When buying a scooter there's plenty of things to keep in mind. In this guide we have gathered some of the best tips, so you can have it easier when deciding on which scooter is the right for you.

Scooters for stunts

If you plan on using your scooter for tricks and freestyle, then you'll need a scooter well suited to handle such. A stunt scooter is more durable than regular scooters and therefore it can take hits better on the ramps.

These are the things to be extra aware of, when looking for a scooter specially for doing stunts:

- Have a proper compression system been mounted? A compression system is what matters for how well the bar spins and how easy performing tricks is.
- What is the quality of the headset? A good headset is usually integrated and is what makes the bar spin properly.
- Is it a lightweight scooter or a standard scooter? A lightweight scooter is lighter than regular scooters and that makes them easier to do tricks with. However, the durability aren't quite as good.

Scooters for transportation

A scooter for transportation has larger wheels than normally and is far more comfortable for long trips than other types of scooters.

When looking for a scooter for transportation, these are the things to be aware of:

- Is it possible to fold the scooter? A scooter that can be folded is practical for the trip to work, or having it under the arm on the bus.
- Are the wheels made of PU rubber or plastic? Soft rubber is more comfortable and has a higher durability as well as quality.
- Is the height adjustable? It's practical being able to adjust the height of your transportation scooter, so it fits you perfectly.
- What quality are the bearings? The fineness of bearings is divided with ABEC, e.g. you can get ABEC-5, which is considered the "standard" one. We recommend you go for ABEC-5 or above.
- Can the scooter handle your weight? The maximum user weight limit should not be overstepped.

Maintenance of your scooter

Like with everything else, a scooter need maintenance as well. The more thorough you are with your maintenance of your scooter, the longer it'll last. No scooters are made to ride on sand, water or in mud. We therefore recommend that you take it apart once every now and then, to get a longer lasting and durable scooter. A stunt scooter got extra enhancements than other types of scooters, but is still able to break should you forget to take care of it. We recommend that you regularly tighten all the bolts/screws, and cleans all the bearings too.
